Fang's Apology & Thoughts About Ayu Monaural Deafness-
The author of this site Divine Fang (a.k.a DF) would
like to apologize to you readers (and many fans who
emailed him) of this website that many sections of the
site are not updated promptly. He has been extremely
busy due to his commitment to his real life job and
therefore could hardly update this site in a timely
manner. In spite of the fact that he shall be getting
an even busier schedule for year 2008, his dedication
for Ayumi Hamasaki and this website will NOT change,
and he thanks many of those who have emailed him just
about anything about Ayumi or this site. He may or may
not reply, but he reads every single email he gets and
he is grateful reading your email :)
Regarding Ayu's half deafness, it has reminded him of
"Kaoru
Amane" of a Japanese drama in 2006 called "Taiyou
no Uta". He highly recommends this drama to
everyone. The main character Kaoru Amane (a.k.a and
played by Sawajiri
Erika) who is a singer wannabe but suffers from
an incurable disease called XP (xeroderma pigmentosum)
and the disease is life-threatening. Kaoru can not be
exposed to the sun due to XP. Therefore Kaoru only sings
as a street singer at night and could very hardly realize
her dream -to debut as a full-fledged singer-. Drama
major spoilers ahead, highlight with your mouse/copy
& paste in order to read: In
order to prolong Kaoru's life, she has to undergo a
surgery to remove her vocal cords which will disable
her to sing. However, in exchange for her life, Kaoru
refused to remove her vocal cords and strive for her
dream. This drama (may) lead its viewers (including
DF) to think that "God is not fair to such a good
singer. What would a singer do if she could not sing
anymore?!" DF's got an impact from this drama and
it is closely related to Ayumi's case. As a result,
he sufferred minor depression for a few days after Ayumi
declared her left ear deaf. To DF's understanding, Ayumi
lost her right ear completely and she should not be
able to determine sound
direction :( . However, he prays so that God would
let Ayumi Hamasaki to continue to sing by not failing
her right ear, otherwise recover her left ear. Optimistically,
he now thinks that Ayumi Hamasaki is really a special
singer! A great half-deaf singer!

DESPERATELY announced here that... Ayumi Hamasaki has
gone deaf in her left ear. Details and excerpts from
a few of many sources are as below:

Japanese pop princess Ayumi Hamasaki has revealed
she has gone deaf in her left ear, but has vowed to
continue her career and go ahead with an upcoming
tour of Asia.
Hamasaki, who is Japan’s top-selling singer with
29 number-one hits and more than 50 million records
sold as of December 31, wrote on her personal blog
that her left ear “doesn’t work anymore”
and that it was inoperable. The 29-year-old said she
first suffered the ear problem in 2000 and postponed
part of her tour. She believed she would eventually
recover from the problem, but instead her doctor recently
confirmed that she was completely deaf in one ear,
she said. Hamasaki, better known as ‘Ayu’
by her large fanbase in Asia, is believed to be suffering
tinnitus, which involves a ringing in the ear that
can be caused by constant exposure to sound.
